I have a set of 15x8 Draglites on a 2000 chevy S10 xtreme 4.3 v6. I have had these rims on the truck for about 4 years. In the last year the front rims make noise when I make turns. Normally a person would think they are rubbing right? But they didn’t make any noise for the first 3 years, but just to make sure I put the tuck on a car lift and made sure nothing is rubbing. Nada, nothing it is totally clear.

Then I thought ok its a wheel bearing or something like that... So just to be sure I put another set of rims on the truck, and no noise when turning.

So for me that is a verification that it is the rim. This weekend I thought maybe the rim is flexing, rubbing on the push through center cap. so I took the center caps off. The noise is more subtle but still there.

Then, I noticed the circular piece that is in the center of the rim where the lug nuts go through, the non aluminum piece that seems to be a strengthening piece for the wheel when you tighten the lugs. Could it be that the wheel is flexing around this piece and making noise?

Any other ideas?

THANKS!

Thanks for your post. It is difficult to tell from your note what is the actual problem. There could be many factors involved. To be sure we would need to inspect the wheels. Sometimes it is as simple as cleaning your wheels from brake dust or raod grime. Use a air nozzle on your wheels to blow out any contamination that may be rubbing inside the wheel. You can also use a pressure washer but make sure that you only use it when the wheels are cool to the touch and do not use any chemicals. These wheels are 2 piece by design and sometimes debris can get stuck between the inner and outer surfaces and cause noise.
